TCES HOLDS READING MONTH CULMINATION

Tugbok Central Elementary School SPED Center held the Reading Month Culminating Activity last November 25, 2011.

This activity, headed by the School Reading Coordinator, Ms. Lydia Piamonte, was held in support of the ten-point Basic Education Agenda of the Aquino Administration and the Department of  Education’s Every Child A Reader  Program (ECARP).

The school Principal, Mrs. Amelyn T. Goniabo, in her open remarks said, “You children should value the habit of reading because it will bring you success in the future.”

Several presentations that highlight reading were showcased. It includes Oral Reading Interpretation by Keziah Alagban of Grade IV regular class, and Reading Aloud by Andrea Bernadette Besario and Isabella Gingging of the grade IV FL class.

Children were asked comprehension questions based on the stories read. They raced to answer these questions since special prizes were given as a reward.

The grade II FL class also presented a Reader’s Theater, Ella Mae Bargayo read a story and while Kent Lawrence Villacorte of grade II FL class did a storytelling. Generose Yarte of grade VI regular class read a story in Filipino, in addition, three grade VI FL class students namely Faye Allen Matas, Joshue Leoj Panes and Drew Kayla Baysa read a story.

Many children enjoyed  fun-filled reading activities such as the word factory led by Mrs. Myrna Sobrecarey.

At the end of the program, children wore happy faces as they earned a new appreciation for reading. LYDIA PIAMONTE (School Reading Coordinator)
